Olivia, the main character of Fringe

Sometime, I just have to get away from my computer. I take a walk to town, shoot some hoops or watch some tv-shows. Now, as I’ve told you before, we decided not to hook up to cable or a dish, because, well.. I can watch everything online.

I’ve heard the boys of TRS (Totally Rad Show (at the 36 minute-point)) talk about this show called “Fringe“. They only saw the first episode and thought it was “alright”. I’m not sure what their exact words were anymore, but it was something like that. The buzz on Twitter is pretty positive as well. So I start looking for episodes.
Today, I watched the first (a 2 hour intro version) and second episodes, and I think I’m hooked.

It’s about and FBI agent who is investigating weird-ass creepy cases, like a girl giving birth to a baby that dies “of natural causes” 4 hours later. Anyway, I don’t want to give away too much, but my verdict is:

Fringe is a series which will be a big hit. Terms of “Lost” kinda hit. It reminds me a little of X-Files, although we’re not dealing with aliens, but with science. For some reason I also keep connecting it to Dawsons Creek, but that’s probably because of Pacey.. ehr.. I mean Peter…

Huh? Doesn’t that sound a bit personal? Don’t worry, I’m not going to bother you with my personal life too much, but I met ted today, and he’s my new BFF.

Since my wife and I moved to town in June, we didn’t bother getting TV here. We have a TV, but it’s just hooked up to my computer. We’ve been talking about getting a satellite reciever, so we can sit on the couch and zap through 3 zillion channels to find out nothing interesting is on, or just watch 0.001% of all the available channels, so no TV for now.

Like I said, ted.. ted is an awesome little, lightweight program that sits in your system tray, waiting for new episodes of your favorite TV-show to come out on a bittorrent network. When it finds a new episode, it opens up your favorite torrent-client and downloads that episode. It comes with a list of preset popular TV-shows, so all you have to do is browse. If there’s a show missing, you can easily add it to the list.
Right now I’m monitoring: Heroes, Bones, Flashpoint, NCIS, Numb3rs and Top Gear.

The only downside of ted is that you can’t download sports-events. I’d like to download formula 1 races as soon as they are available. Maybe in the next version?
